LEGALIZATION OF DOCUMENTS

The process of legalization certifies the authenticity of each document.
The legalization is carried out by the "Consular Relations" Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Justice.

The terms for legalization are strictly defined individually for each document.

Subject of certification are documents issued by different countries intended to be used in Bulgaria.

For documents coming from a state – party to the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961, it is mandatory to carry the Apostille stamp.

Australia, Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Barbados, Bahamas, Belgium, Belize, Botswana, Brunei, Canada, Venezuela, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Estonia, Israel, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, China (only for areas of Hong Kong and Macau), Colombia, Latvia, Lesotho, Liberia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Mauritius, Malawi, Malta, Marshall Islands, Mexico, Namibia, Niyu, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Portugal, El Salvador, Samoa, San Marino, Swaziland, Saint Kids and Nevis, Seychelles, Suriname, United States, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Fiji, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, South Africa, Japan.

Documents coming from countries that are not a party to the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961, need to have a stamp of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the respectivestate, and a stamp from their embassy or consulate within the Republic of Bulgaria or of a neighboring country.
